The tutorials below cover the basics of working in Flash. You may refer to these during and after Day 1's session to help you while you create your Flash website. The tutorials and all subsequent screen shots were created using a Macintosh computer.

vector.pngVector Graphics are images that are completely described using mathematical definitions. Each individual line is made up of either a vast collection of points with lines interconnecting all of them or just a few control points that are connected using so called bezier curves. Flash drawings are vector drawings. Unlike bitmap graphics, they can usually be scaled without any loss in quality. It also demonstrates how to edit a gradient using the Gradient Transform Tool.

It also labels the options in the Property inspector when the Text Tool is selected. firefox005.jpg The Working with Layers in Flash tutorial shows you how to manage the layers in your timeline so you can more easily create and edit your Flash projects.

symbols.pngThere are three different types of symbols in Flash: Graphic Symbol, Movie Clip Symbol and Button Symbol. In the example shown, the two balloon animations have the exact motion tween created on its timeline. However, you'll notice that the first animation does not play and the second one does. Take a look at the Flash example to understand why the two animations behave so differently. There is also a button symbol example. animating.pngAnimating in Flash briefly describes the three basic types of animation in Flash - with examples and screenshots of the animations' timelines.

mcs.pngThis tutorial will show you how to create an animation that has an "animation within an animation." This is a common technique used to created more elaborate and realistic animations.

aniface.pngFrame by Frame Animation tutorial of an animated face. This tutorial uses symbols, frame by frame animation to create an animation of a a face changing through various facal expressions. Please click on the thumbnail to view the tutorial.
ani.pngCreating an Animation of a Dancing Character - This last tutorial is just an extra animation tutorial I threw in. The tutorial was created for my multimedia students, used as they worked through their first major animation project. The content of this tutorial will not be covered in the four-day training session.
